Caelum Audio Beef

If your mix is sounding malnourished, Caelum Audio thinks its new Beef plug-in might be able to help out. The affordable multi-effects plug-in features six engines to process your audio and spice up your tracks.

Beef is built with a multi-stage 4-band EQ with sub, low, mid, high bands, with a mid-frequency-band control for honing in on specific mid-frequencies. A Noise/Rate modulation engine lets you use filtered noise to add textures, with controls for frequency, Q and amount.

Six types of saturation are onboard to flame-grill and crisp your tracks: overdrive, tube, distortion, tape, fuzz and rectified. Turn up the heat using the drive and tone dials. For more decimation, a Crush section can alter bit depth and rate divide. You can then use the shaping engine to shape the transients to taste. Finally, a limiter will help you make sure your audio isn’t clipping. The effect of Beef can be blended with the dry signal using the mix knob.

If you’re looking for a Sausage Fattener-style, one-knob-wonder approach to Beef, try the Preset Mode. This lets you browse the 124 different presets on offer and leaves you with only the mix knob to dial in the desired sound. 85 of the presets are designed by artists, content creators and friends of Caelum Audio.

Caelum Audio’s Beef plug-in is available now in AU, VST and AAX formats and runs on macOS 11.1 and above, and Windows 7 and above. It can also run standalone and as an AUv3 plug-in for iPhone and iPad.

To celebrate the launch, Caelum Audio is running an introductory offer, pricing the desktop version of Beef at £24, originally £30, and the iOS version at £4, originally £5. This offer ends on 14 May 2021.
